Desolation Lake

I got in a decent ride last night on the mtn bike. I climbed 2000 ft up Mill D in Big Cottonwood Canyon to Desolation Lake. (http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/mill-d-n.htm)

It's a pretty technical ride and definitely a lung buster - straight up for 4 miles! I did the out-and-back to Desolation, it makes for a great training ride for 24 hrs of Moab - 15 days and counting. I even ran into a little snow just before the lake. It was 75 today in the valley but up here over 9000 ft it is pretty cool. I had to put a jacket on for my ride down.

I always feel like I need to include a picture or two of Camden with each post, so here ya go. He loves going down slides at the park and I love this picture we got of him coming down a tube at the zoo recently:

Cool Video

This is me on a creek called "6th Water" - it's an older video but I had to put it on this site!
It is a class IV/V water fall. This is one of a couple drops in this short run that took a bit of courage for me to run.

Trip to Portland/Seattle

Amy, Cam and I had a great weekend in the Northwest. We flew into Portland and visited Amy's parents and then drove to Seattle for a wedding in Snohomesh, WA. Cam had a great time with his grandparents who love to spoil him rotten!

They insisted to buy him all sorts of treats and let him ride every little ride in the mall. We all wish we could be closer to Cam's grandma and grandpa! He has so much fun with them - not to mention how much fun they have with him!

Amy and I also had a great time. The wedding was a lot of fun as it was a chance for Amy and I to get out and enjoy each other for an evening. We danced all night and had the headaches the next morning as proof of what a good time we had the night before.

Cam is so big now that he got to have his own seat on the plane. He loves to watch out the window during takeoff and landing. (we don't actually pay for a seat for him yet, but we try to secure one when the plane is not full)

We got home Monday and had to head right to work. Camden is exhausted from the weekend (as we all are) We came home to much cooler weather and the mountain peaks have a white dusting. We're excited for cooler weather but would like to have fall before winter!

I need to get back on the bike as 24 hrs of Moab is less than 3 weeks away!

Fun Weekend

Amy, Cam and I had a great weekend on the bikes and hiking. Saturday I got a great ride on my mtn bike in Corner Canyon (note: I should not ride the downhills while listening to the Beastie Boys - got a little scary) and then we all went to Park City. We put Cam in the pack and hiked from Main St. to the top of Town Lift. Cam got to have his first chairlift ride on the way down. The trees are changing colors and the temps are getting cooler - it was beautiful!! We rode down and had sushi at the Happy Sumo where Cam thought it would be funny to stick his chopsticks in to his noodles and fling them half way across the place!!
On Sunday I got another good mtn bike ride in Corner Canyon (trying to ride alot as 24 hrs of moab is right around the corner) and then we all got on our road bikes for a ride around Sandy. Amy is pushing herself on her bike so we went at a really good pace and ended up at Granite Park for a little Camden play time.
