Relaxing Weekend

We had a very relaxing weekend this past weekend. Amy was not feeling well and she and Cam both had stuffy noses. It actually snowed Saturday. The mountains got a bunch but it didn't stick at our house. At one point it looked like huge cotton balls falling from the sky:

We took the opportunity of bad weather to go shopping for a new desk for the home office but didn't find anything we liked. Saturday evening we were cooking some steaks and I had one of those moments where I decided I could not live in Utah any longer: After starting dinner I thought "Some red wine would really go good with these steaks" so when I realized we didn't have any I decided to run to the State Liquor Store. The only one is a good 15 mins from our house. It was now about 6:50 in the evening. I pulled into the liquor store right at 7:03 to watch them turn off the lights and closed. This is about when I had a feeling of rage and the thoughts of "what kind of stupid place do I live in that you can't even buy a bottle of wine at 7 o'clock!!!! That's it, we're moving!!" This was calmed the next day when I found out that the other liquor store (15 mins in the other direction) is open until 9 or 10. Still frustrating!!

The next day was incredible. Sunday morning and the sun was shining without a cloud in the sky. Amy, Cam, and I took the morning to enjoy the sun from our deck:

Sunday afternoon I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a road ride up Suncrest in Draper. It is a steep climb of about 1500 feet and usually dries up quick after a storm. I knew it would still be wet on the canyon roads and too muddy on the trails. Less than 2 week until Moab but I needed some time on my road bike as this weekend we will also be in Moab for the Lance Armstrong Foundation ride during the Skinny Tire Festival (http://skinnytireevents.com/content/section/12/30/)

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with Cam and some of the neighbor's kids in the beautiful weather:
